საქართველოს ეროვნული პლატფორმის ინიციატივით, ქუთაისში პლატფორმის რეგიონული წარმომადგენლების ორგანიზებითა და აქტიური ჩართულობით, ქუთაისის აკაკი წერეთლის სახელობის უნივერსიტეტში, გაიმართა შეხვედრა, რომელიც მიზნად ისახავდა ევროკავშირში გაწევრიანების საკითხებთან დაკავშირებით და და კანდიდატი ქვეყნის სტატუსის მინიჭების შესახებ საზოგადოების ინფორმირებას.
საჯარო დისკუსიასში მონაწილეობდნენ უნივერსიტეტის სტუდენტები, პროფესორები და ქუთაისის სამოქალაქო საზოგადოემბის წარმომადგენლები. დისკუსიას უძღვებოდა საქარტველოს ეროვნული პლატფორმის თავმჯდომარე, ნინო ჩხობაძე და მისი მოადგილე, ლაშა ტუღუში.
შეხვედრაზე ისაუბრეს EU-ს კანდიდატის სტატუსის მინიჭების მნიშვნელობაზე, რა შესაძლებლობები ეხსნება საქართველოს თუ აღნიშნულ სტატუსს მიანიჭებენ და რა ვალდებულების შესრულება მოუწევს მას. ხაზი გაესვა, რომ კანდიდატის სტატუსი ევროკავშირში გაწევრიანების პირველი ეტაპია, სტატუსის მქონე ქვეყნებს აქვთ პირობა, რომ ისინი ევროკავშირის წევრები გახდებიან, თუმცა მათზეა დამოკიდებული რამდენად სწრაფად მოახერხებენ ამას. საუბარი შეეხო ევროინტეგრაციის მნიშვნელობას. ხაზგასმით აღინიშნა, რომ საქართველოს არ აქვს სხვა გზა, გარდა ევროკავშირში გაწევრიანებისა.
