On July 23, 2018, the working group of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs considered the legislative proposal submitted by the member organizations of the Georgian National Platform regarding the amendments to the Organic Law on the Prosecutor’s Office.

The initiators of the legislative proposal are: Liberal Academy Tbilisi Director, Lasha Tugushi, Chairman of the Georgian National Platform, Natia Kuprashvili, Head of the Human Rights Center, Aleko Tskitishvili and Chairman of the Pardon Commission, Zviad Koridze.

According to the proposed changes, the rules for electing the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia, the composition of the Prosecutorial Council and the rules for its staff will change.

The presentation was followed by a discussion. The working meeting was attended by: members of the Legal Affairs Committee, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Giorgi Gogadze, member organizations of the Georgian National Platform, invited experts and members of the Scientific Advisory Board under the Legal Affairs Committee.
