On June 16, 2016 the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS) the First Meeting of the Georgia-EU Civil Society Platform took place. According to the Article 412 of the Georgia-EU Association Agreement, the Georgia-EU Civil Society Platform is to be established, which will then monitor the implementation of the Association Agreement and will draft recommendations for the Georgia-EU Association Council and for other relevant institutions, for the Georgian and the EU governments and parliaments. The First Meeting of the Platform was opened by Chair of the Georgian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, and by the Co-chair of the Georgia-EU Civil Society Platform, Mr. Kakha Gogolashvili, and by the Member of the European Economic and Social Committee, Mr. Andrzej Adamczyk, who also acts as the Co-chair of the above-mentioned Platform. Presentations about the Georgia-EU Association Agreement were made by the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Mr. Janos Herman, and by the State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Mr. Davit Bakradze, who spoke on behalf of the Georgian State. During the active discussion that took place at the meeting, the representatives of the EU, and the Georgian civil society organizations shared with the attendees their views on the implementation of the Association Agreement. Working Agenda of the Platform, and a joint statement were adopted at the Meeting. Next Georgia-EU Platform meeting will take place in December, 2016 in Brussels.
